Student testimonials:
- I have always wondered how one would even begin to get something published. I’m not a writer with a capital “W”, but what if….? Dana’s class combines an organized outline with her friendly, laid back style so as to make for a very enjoyable experience. I left with enough resources to remove some of the mystique from the publishing landscape (which my left-brain loves!) and had a great time to boot. Whether you are just curious like me, or on a more focused quest to learn publishing’s in’s and out’s, this class is worthy of your time. Amy H.
- I’ve been working on a four-generation family history for a while now. I had attended publishing webinars and thought that I had a good grasp on exactly what my publishing roadmap looked like. I surprised myself by learning a lot from your presentation! Two “seeds of knowledge” that have taken root were to break out some of the individual stories and submit them to local genealogical publications, and, secondly, to consider a website/ blog to deliver those stories in smaller bite-size pieces to an audience that might embrace that different format and technology. Martha S.
- My work is increasingly turning to writing articles for international as well as national audiences. While I find writing comes naturally to me, it can always bear improvement. Moreover, finding a publisher and getting published has always been a challenge. I therefore decided to take Dana Shavin’s in-person workshop, “Varieties of Publishing.” The workshop has been immensely helpful to me both in terms of writing and getting published. Her coverage of the various forms of writing and publishing was well-organized and comprehensive and her presentation manner was enlivening and participative. She has a deep knowledge of the industry and of her craft. I learned a great deal of useful information, do’s and don’ts, and strategies. I highly recommend Dana ’s workshops and coaching for effective writing and getting published. Eric K.
